Onewoods.net email can be accessed via http://email.onewoods.net. Use just the first part of the email address, and omit the '@onewoods.net'. Yes, this is different from how you log into the classifieds.
If you do not have a Onewoods.net address and are having problems, contact your ISP's tech support. If your ISP is unable to assist you because you are using a hotmail, yahoo, gmail, or other email address, Pennswoods.net offers a $5/month tech support plan that covers most aspects of your computer, including assistance with any email account.
Update Dec 10, 2008: We've relaxed the requirement for having an email on a Pennswoods controlled domain. New signups now log in with your email address (email@example.com, firstname.lastname@example.org, etc) and whatever password you signed up with.
Replies to your ad go to the email address you signed in with.
Replies are also cached on the classifieds, the link for this can be found on any of your ad listings, either via the 'Your Ads' link in the upper left, by searching your ad, or in the category listings. You MUST be signed in to see this, and only YOU can see the number of replies, and the content of the replies.
As of this writing, ads are left in place for 14 days, or until the owner deletes it. If ads are removed earlier, it was because they violated one or more of the guidelines. If a certain number of flags are reported against a particular ad, the website will remove it automatically in real time.
The system has some intelligence in that it remembers how many ads you've posted, and how many times you've been flagged. If you post a lot of ads that get flagged, it learns to recognize you as a source of questionable material, and removes your ads with fewer complaints. If you post ads that are not flagged, it likewise identifies you as a source of well received ads, and requires a few extra complaints before it takes action. If you see your ads start to dissappear, you should take notice, and make certain you are following the guidelines.
We are unable to provide any information on deleted ads.

Point smtp towards your local ISPs mail server, and configure pop3 (pop.gmail.com, use ssl) or imap (imap.gmail.com, use ssl).
If you need additional assistance, contact Pennswoods.net or your local ISP. Pennswoods provides technical support for configuring email clients only to paying customers. However Pennswoods offers a $5 / month support service (you can purchase a single month if you like), so if your own ISP is unable to assist you, we can assist for a very afforadable price.
When responding to an ad, there is a checkbox to send a copy to yourself.
All users of the Pennswoods.net classifieds need to be wary of potential scams. Our free classified ads system is open to everyone, not just pennswoods.net customers, and thus there is the possibility of scammers lurking about, looking for potential victims. We make every effort to prevent scam artists from using our site. However use of the classifieds is at your own risk.
One of the most common scams to watch out for, involves exotic pets from overseas. The best piece of advice we can give, is for users to avoid any transactions, or at least be extremely skeptical, when dealing with people claiming to be in a foreign country. Keep in mind that the Pennswoods.net Free Classifieds are based in Pennsylvania, and we mainly serve PA, MD, VA, WV, NY, and the US Virgin Islands. While our classified ads are open to the public and not just Pennswoods.net customers, you have to question the motives of anyone posting to our classifiieds that do not reside in our general coverage area, especially from a foreign country. Be especially wary of *ANY* ad trying to sell Yorkie dogs, exotic birds (especially "Macaws"), and monkeys of any kind. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Another type of scam to watch out for is the "Counterfeit Cashier's Check Scam. This scam usually involves a buyer sending a seller a cashier's check for more than the amount of the item being sold, with the buyer stating various reasons why it needs to be done this way, then they also request a personal check back for the difference (or they request it be wired back). The cashier's check they send will turn out to be bogus, with the seller finding this out too late, by which time the seller then has to pay back the money to the bank, in addition to also losing the money returned to the scammer. Overseas money orders and checks sometimes take months to truly clear.
Please check out the following links for more details on the scam and variations of it:
Ads are limited to 4 per category, 16 total. This is in keeping with our posted requirements of no more than 4 ads per category.
If this has affected you, delete an ad or two, or wait for them to expire, before posting new ads.
Customers with paid accounts can post 6 ads per category, 30 total in all combined categories.
When an ad is flagged for a possible violation of the guidelines, it is marked for possible review. If enough people flag it, it will be deleted.

We really don't know. Can you? We cover quite a few states now, and there is a virtual horde of government agencies with laws and regulations to comply with. Monk parrakeets are outlawed in Pennsylvania, and the PA Game Commission will euthanize them if you are caught with them. At least this is what we read online. In Ohio it is perfectly legal to own them, provided that the wings are clipped. In Virginia they must be permanently banded, but it doesn't matter if the wings are clipped.
We are not responsible for the ads posted to Pennswoods.net classifieds. YOU are responsible for knowing the law.
If a law enforcement agent provides us with a subpeona, we are compelled by law to respond to it. Every day we see well over a quarter million ads being viewed, some of them from .gov, .mil, and other domains. Please know the law and comply with it.

There are two reasons we consider adding new categories. The first is when there are ads posted that don't fit into existing categories.
The second is when there are too many ads in a category for easy browsing.
If you have an idea for a new category, let us know.
If you are having problems locating ads, you might try the search feature.
We are not going to add a 'Free' category. Use the search and choose 'For Free' ad types.
We are not going to add a 'Wanted XYZ'. Use the search and choose 'Wanted to Buy' ad types.
There are two ways to post a picture in an ad.
The first is to have the picture hosted somewhere on the internet. Google's Picasa, Imageshack, Photobucket, etc provide such services if you don't already have one. In the field marked "Picture URL" simply include the location of the picture on the web.
If you don't have an image hosted somewhere, you can use the "Upload a Picture" field. Simply click on the "browse" button beside the field, and find the folder with your images. Select the image you want to upload, and when you submit the ad, the image will be uploaded to our server, and posted with your ad.
Our classifieds has been successfully tested with images as large as 13 megs. It is possible however that if your image is truly gargantuan, you might still have problems. Upon uploading all images larger than 800x600 are reduced to 800x600, and compressed to consume less disk space. Generally the quality of the image is unaffected. The name of the picture should end in jpg, jpeg, gif, or png.
Typically it means that we need you to contact us for one reason or another.
Usually it is something simple that can be cleared up quickly. Just email email@example.com. If you need access to your onewoods.net email account, you can reach it here: email.onewoods.net.
We try to have as wide open a market place as possible, while providing the best protections we can for visitors to our site. As much as possible we prefer that you be able to post however you like. Lately we've drawn significant attention from scam artists who can bypass all security and simply skim email addresses from the site.
While generally most people don't fall for this, it is easy to get caught up and want to believe. Ultimately we have a lot of people emailing us about the scammers, and we have people posting warnings to others about a problem that we can solve.
If you prefer to use a different email address, simply register that address, log in, and post under that username. For times when you are posting for someone else, or want email send to a different address for only one particular ad, you can now list an alternate email address where email will be sent. Also check out this FAQ.
We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for your assistance in our attempts to thwart scam artists.
If YOU choose to pay for an upgraded ad, we have several options. We receive a small fee to help us cover new development and operating the servers, and you get an edge up on promoting what you are selling. Bear in mind that you pay for posting the ad, and the duration for which the ad is run is not guarunteed.
Currently we have:
Highlighted listings for $1.00.
Bold text listings for $0.75
